Warner Bros. has scheduled the launch of a new fantasy action movie based on the Mortal Kombat video game series for October 24, 2025

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema announced that the second Mortal Kombat movie, written by Jeremy Slater, best known for the Disney Plus Marvel series Moon Knight, will be released on October 24 next year. Director Simon McVeigh, who directed the first part of the American fantasy action movie, has returned to work on the second film.

The new film will again star Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, who played in the 2021 film. Karl Urban and Adeline Rudolph will join the cast.

The first Mortal Kombat, an adaptation of the popular video game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, was released in theaters and on HBO Max in April 2021, earning $42 million in the U.S. and $83 million worldwide.
