On August 29, the second season of the series "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power", which is a prequel to the film trilogy by director Peter Jackson, based on the novel "The Lord of the Rings" by British writer John Tolkien.
The new trailer is much tougher and darker than most of Season 1. In it, viewers will see Sauron played by Australian actor Charlie Vickers. In addition, season 2 will showcase several new rings and their creation, as well as one hell of an explosion.
The video centers on the rise of a formidable and powerful villain during the Second Age of Middle-earth, when Sauron (Charlie Vickers) disguises himself as an elf to help Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) forge the rings of power. A variety of menacing creatures — orcs, creeping tree vines, a quagmire of worm slime — seem to flood the land, while many of the characters from season one prepare for battle.
Aside from the teaser showing the fate of elves and dwarves, orcs and humans, wizards and harfoots, Prime Video showed several posters at its Upfront presentation. They make it clear that Sauron will be the center of the upcoming season.
Recently, Warner Bros. announced that it will release a new film in the Lord of the Rings series in 2026. The film, titled The Hunt for Gollum, will be produced by Peter Jackson, director of the original Lord of the Rings films, and directed by Andy Serkis, who played Gollum himself in the trilogy.
A separate animated film from Warner Bros. and director Kenji Kamiyama about Middle Earth, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is due to be released on December 13. The film will be set 200 years before the events of The Hobbit.
