Demographic trends and significant changes in births, deaths, marriages and divorces revealed by recent statistics

The month of November 2023 brought with it significant changes in the natural movement of the Romanian population.

In a detailed analysis, we explore the changes recorded in births, mortality, marriages and divorces, revealing crucial aspects of the demographic evolution during this period according to statistics provided by National Institute of Statistics (INS). 

Births and mortality: revealing figures

In November 2023, the number of births recorded a notable decrease, being 1653 lower than in the previous month, October 2023. With 11970 babies born, the natural balance remained negative, reflecting a reality in which the number of deaths (19840) significantly exceeds the number of live births.

Distribution of deaths and main causes

Analysing the distribution of deaths by age group, we observe a significant concentration of deaths among people aged 80 and over. Diseases of the circulatory system, tumours, and diseases of the respiratory system remained the main causes of death, highlighting the need for appropriate care and prevention strategies.

Nuptiality and divorces:

In terms of nuptiality, November 2023 saw an increase in the number of marriages compared to the same period in 2022. However, this trend was countered by a decrease in the number of divorces, highlighting the complexity of relational dynamics in the context of contemporary society.
