Head of the National Police explains whether law enforcement officers should issue summonses
Why Vyhivskyi is against police issuing subpoenas
National Police officers should not issue summonses to citizens to territorial centers of recruitment(TCR) and social support (SS). They have a bunch of their own powers that they must fulfill.
About this in an interview Ukrainian News said Head of the National Police Ivan Vygivskyi.
According to Vygivskyi, the police have many tasks of their own, so everyone should do their job.
"On the one hand, we document hundreds of criminal offenses among representatives of the TCR and SS, where they receive undue benefits, and thus people do not go to serve. So, on the one hand, we are going to document, and on the other hand, we are going to issue summonses? So I think we have enough work to do. We are already helping with mobilization as much as possible, establishing the whereabouts of evaders", - Vygivskyi said.
He clarified that the police is the largest law enforcement agency, so it always helps other government agencies and sometimes performs functions that are not provided for by law.
"The search for deserters, which does not fall under our functionality, because it is the task of the SBI, but we are also engaged in this, because the SBI also has many times less human resources", - the head of the National Police gave an example.
We remind you that the National Police of Ukraine asked citizens not to violate the curfew on New Year's Eve. Violators will be treated with understanding, but nightclubs will be dealt with severely.
