Zelenskyy replaced the commander of the Special Operations Forces
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree dismissing Serhiy Lupanchuk from the post of Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleksandr Trepak has been appointed in his place

"Dismiss Lupanchuk Serhiy Konstantinovich from the post of Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine", reads Decree No. 313/2024.
Instead, Oleksandr Trepak was appointed to his position. He is a serviceman of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine, Brigadier General.
Trepak participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine since April 2014. Together with several reconnaissance groups, he was deployed to the area of Bakhmut. In addition, from August 27 to October 3, 2014, he was the senior military commander of the defense of the Donetsk International Airport.
At the end of 2020, Trepak was appointed Chief of Staff — Deputy Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

They are staffed by specially trained specialists with special capabilities in the areas of intelligence, direct action and military support to perform complex, dangerous, sometimes politically sensitive operations.
