EU High Representative, Josep Borrell, opposes EU leaders attending russian dictator vladimir putin's "inauguration" in moscow

This was reported by espreso.tv

He said that European leaders had received invitations to putin's "inauguration" on May 7 and there was no final decision yet, but the countries were preparing a joint response to moscow.

"I can confirm that the invitations sent out by the kremlin to participate in putin's 'inauguration' have been received in the member states and in our Delegation (EU - ed.) in moscow. We are currently discussing with the member states what our response to this might be", Stano said.

He said member states always seek to have a coordinated European approach to foreign policy wherever possible.

"So we are still discussing with the member states how to approach this, taking into account all the relevant elements. So no final decision has been made yet. But I can share with you that the EU High Representative Josep Borrell is against the EU taking part in this event in moscow tomorrow", the EU spokesman added.
  • Recall that on April 17, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe supported a resolution calling for the recognition of vladimir putin as an illegitimate president of russia.
