The African Corps, controlled by the russian Ministry of Defense, has announced the start of a recruitment campaign. Former employees of the Wagner Group are being recruited to join the newly formed military formation.

American Institute for the Study of War ISW reported this information.

"African Corps" is an initiative of the russian Ministry of Defense to expand russia's military presence in the Middle East and Africa. It will most likely operate in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, territories that, according to ISW, are zones of influence of the African Corps.

On December 20, the African Corps announced the recruitment of former and current Wagner employees and people with combat experience in the war in Ukraine.

"The African Corps claimed that its command staff consists of former combat commanders of elite units of the russian army and unidentified private military companies (PMCs) - possibly referring to the PMC Redoubt (linked to the main department of the russian General Staff)", - the ISW report said.

This military formation promises "high salaries," but interested candidates who are currently participating in the war in Ukraine cannot join the African Corps. Likewise, "Rosgvardeytsy" who have not terminated their contract with the russian Guard cannot join. At the same time, russian servicemen who are not participating in the war can join the African Korps.

Recall that former russian military officer Igor Salikov filed a statement with the International Criminal Court. He expressed his readiness to talk about the crimes of the russian federation and the private military organization "Redoubt" on the territory of Ukraine.
