Suspilne Sport informs that six key players of the Ukrainian national volleyball team decided not to participate in the team's training camp before the start of the new season in the Golden Euroleague. Among them are Oleg Plotnitskyi from Perugia, Vasyl Tupchii from Barkom-Kazhany and four volleyball players from Prometheus — Yan Ereshchenko, Dmitry Teremenko, Gorden Brova, Vitaly Shchytkov.

Oleg PlotnitskyI said he decided to take a break after a busy season.

"I'm not going there. Both the team and the management know this. At the moment, I think it's better to take a break. Especially if there is an opportunity this year - we play only the Golden Euroleague. We have qualified for the European Championships and the World Championships. If everything goes well, there will be a Candidates' Cup. What else do we need? We have four years until the next Olympics. We are not going to make it to this one. The guys have the right to rest. And this is a good opportunity to test the young ones", he said.

Mykhailo Melnyk, president of the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation, noted that if the players do not show up by May 3, they will face sanctions, including disqualification from participating in the Ukrainian championship and a ban on transfers for players of foreign clubs. In 2024, the national team of Ukraine intends to play in the Golden Euroleague, where, if successful, it can gain the right to participate in the Candidates' Cup and the League of Nations.
