According to the IMF, at the end of 2023, russia accounted for 2.94% of the world's output of goods and services at purchasing power parity (PPP). By 2025, this share will decline to 2.9%, in 2026 it will drop to 2.85%, and in 2027 — to 2.8%.
By the end of 2028, according to IMF estimates, russia will account for only 2.75% of the world economy, and in 2029 only 2.7%. This will be the lowest in the country's modern history, lower than the bottom of 1998, when russia's share of global GDP fell to 2.83% amid the default.
- In late February, the IMF said that the confiscation of russian assets should have a sufficient legal basis to avoid potential risks.
