Among the many cities worth visiting in Normandy, Deauville and Trouville occupy a special place. These two resort towns are like twin sisters, separated only by a river called the Touques.

Deauville

This is a city of great importance for military history. On June 6, 1944, on the day of the landing of Allied troops in Normandy (D-Day), Deauville became the site of important battles. Deauville became popular at the end of the XIX century, when the Count de Mornay built a racetrack here and began to hold races on it.

Omaha Beach is another area of Normandy that gained world fame thanks to the landing of the Allied forces. It was here, on the shores of Normandy Beach, that one of the most fierce battles of D-Day took place. American troops faced heavy resistance from German defenders, and the battles on Omaha Beach were extremely bloody.

On the beach is the Allied Landing Museum, which presents a variety of exhibits, including military equipment, artifacts from the battle and personal belongings of soldiers. This place has become a kind of shrine of memory, where tourists and military historians can feel the spirit of the past and honor the memory of those who fought on these lands.
