Apple has resumed negotiations with OpenAI on the use of generative artificial intelligence technology to implement new features that will appear in the iPhone this year

This was reported by espreso.tv

According to the agreement, OpenAI features will be integrated into iOS 18, Apple's next iPhone operating system.

Although the negotiation process began at the beginning of the year, the work between the two parties has been minimal. At the same time, Apple is in talks with Google to license its Gemini chatbot.

Along with this, the next iPhone operating system will include several new features based on Apple's own extensive speech model — AI software that can generate human-like text — but the company is also looking for partners to build a chatbot-like feature similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT.

  • In March, Apple's iPhone shipments fell 10%, losing out to Samsung's smartphones, as sales in China dropped significantly.
