DeepState claims loss of two villages near Ocheretyne, General Staff does not confirm
The Ukrainian military OSINT investigation project DeepState has issued a statement on the loss of control over the villages of Semenivka and Solovyove in Donetsk region by the Ukrainian Defense Forces and their transfer to the russian occupiers
This is reported by espreso.tv
"The enemy occupied Semenivka and Solovyovo, and also advanced in Novokalynove, Ivanivske and Kyslivka", the authors of DeepState informed on the night of April 26-27, 2024.
The villages of Semenivka and Solovyove are located south of the village of Ocheretyno in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, through which russians are now trying to break through to the strategically important cities of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. All of this is happening northwest of the occupied Avdiivka.
In turn, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its report on the situation at the front as of the morning of April 27 does not confirm the statement by DeepState regarding Semenivka and Solovyovo.
"In the Avdiivka sector, our defenders repelled 29 attacks in the areas of Arkhangelsk, Keramik, Ocheretyno, Semenivka, Umanske, Kalynove", stated General Staff at 10:00 Kyiv time.
What about Ocheretyne: occupied or not
It should be noted that on the daily updated map of hostilities from DeepState, the village of Ocheretyne is also marked as almost completely occupied by the enemy. However, the General Staff also disagrees with this statement.
The leading military expert of Espreso, director of the information and consulting company Defense Express, Serhiy Zgurets, calls the situation around Ocheretyne the most difficult on the frontline.
"The dynamics of fighting there are even greater in terms of the number of clashes than around Chasiv Yar. It seems that Chasiv Yar has faded into the background for now, but when we talk about Ocheretyne, it is an area where the enemy managed to advance 4-6 km in a fairly short period of time. Advancement towards Ocheretyne and beyond significantly affects the frontline because Ocheretyne is a hill that allows to keep a significant amount of area under both visual and fire control — the enemy understands this as well", he explains.
"The lion's share of the city is under the enemy's control, our troops are also there, so the fighting is extremely active, but during this time, in addition to advancing to Ocheretyne, the enemy is trying to expand this insertion", Zgurets said on the evening of April 26.
According to the expert, the General Staff will investigate why the 115th Brigade, which has now been replaced by the 100th Brigade, was unable to hold its positions there.
For their part, the russians, Zgurets emphasizes, "are beginning to redeploy the 15th Peacekeeping Brigade, which was withdrawn from Nagorno-Karabakh, to this area".
