It is noted that on April 20, after the tragic event, the attackers decided to flee abroad and turned to their friends in the military for help. One of them also left the military unit in Odesa region without permission.
"Despite the fact that the public already knew that the father and son were wanted for the murder of a law enforcement officer, the defendants responded and decided to help. In particular, one of them handed over a car to escape abroad, and the other went to pick up passports and a mobile phone, which he later handed over to the attackers", the statement said.
According to the special service, on April 24, the SBI detained one of the servicemen who helped the suspects and left the military unit without permission.
The serviceman was served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 396 of the Criminal Code for concealing a serious crime, and another serviceman who left the military unit without permission was served a notice of suspicion under Part. 5 of Art. 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Note: According to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
- On April 20, around 02:00, in Vinnytsia region, two men opened fire on police officers who stopped them for a check during the curfew. One law enforcement officer was killed and another was injured.

- Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, said that the military were transporting ammunition and grenades in the car, which they then dumped into the reservoir.
