The Verkhovna Rada voted to increase the number of border guards
On Wednesday, April 24, the Verkhovna Rada voted in favor of a bill that would increase the number of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine by 15,000 servicemen

327 MPs voted for the draft law No. 11091 "On Amendments to Clause 1 of Section IX "Final Provisions" of the Law of Ukraine "On the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine".
It provides for an increase in the number of SBGS servicemen by 15 thousand.
"Given the urgent need to form and build up the combat reserves of the State Border Guard Service as part of the Defense Forces and to ensure the readiness of the State Border Guard Service in the post-war period to take control of the state border within its internationally recognized borders and to adequately respond with the available forces and means of the State Border Guard Service to actual and potential threats to national security at the state border".
"Thus, the total number of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine within a year from the date of termination or lifting of martial law on the territory of Ukraine will be up to 75,000 people, including up to 67,000 servicemen", Zheleznyak explained.
