"We have been living with collective trauma for many generations. That's why I wanted to make a story where the war would not be a point on the map, not a number of tranches of Western support, not a battle. Because the whole world has learned the name of the Battle of Bakhmut, but does not know the names of those who died there. I wanted to give this war names, faces. I won't be able to show everyone, but I can at least show those I meet", Yulia said about her project at the time.
