Budanov denies threat of russian offensive on Kiev
The head of the Defense Ministry's GUR spoke about the lack of danger
In an interview with the BBC, Kirill Budanov, the head of the defense ministry's main intelligence directorate, said there were no signs at the moment that russia was preparing for a new offensive on the Ukrainian capital.
"As of now, absolutely not," he emphasized, commenting on the current situation.
During the conversation, the journalist recalled the visit of CIA Director William Burns to Kiev before the russian invasion, during which he informed about possible plans to land a paratrooper in Gostomel. Budanov responded that Ukrainian intelligence was aware of this information, but refused to comment on Burns' statements, expressing respect for his position.
Budanov also recalled the statement of President Vladimir Zelenskyy, who said that before May 9, 2024, russian troops intend to capture Crasov Iar in Donetsk region, planning to launch an offensive as early as June.
