"I have just participated in the work of the European Council, all the leaders of our Europe were there. I am grateful to Charles Michel, Mr. President of the European Council, Ursula von der Leyen, Mrs. President of the European Commission, and all the heads of European states and governments for their continued attention to Ukraine", Zelenskyy said.
According to the president, he emphasized today everything that is necessary for further action, for the defense of Ukraine.
"Of course, air defense and the front are a key priority. Now is the time that everyone in Europe, in the free world, should use to strengthen – for the sake of greater arms production, for the sake of greater arms supply, in general, for the sake of determination. The normal life of the world is based on determination, and Europe can definitely not lose this time – for the sake of our common security", the statement said.
- On April 16, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would request a meeting of the NATO–Ukraine Council to discuss "protecting the skies, supplying air defense, relevant systems and missiles".
- On April 17, Jens Stoltenberg said that a meeting of the NATO–Ukraine Council would take place on Friday, April 19, with the participation of President Zelenskyy.
