Ukraine needs $42 billion for budget support this year, — IMF's Georgieva

This year, Ukraine will need at least $42 billion in international aid to support its budget as the war unleashed by russia continues.

The head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, said this at a press conference in Washington, D.C., according to Suspilne.
"As of now, we estimate the needs (budget support for Ukraine — ed.) at $42 billion for this year", the IMF Managing Director said.
At the same time, Georgieva is confident that Ukraine will receive the funds as international support remains "firm". She also emphasized that in order to solve the economic problems of Ukraine and the region, it is necessary to end the war in the country.
"War is a tragedy when men, women and children are killed and wounded every day. So we need this war to end for their sake", the IMF chief added.
Georgieva also praised the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities to stabilize the economy.
- On April 18, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said that since February 2022, Ukraine has received $83.7 billion in financial assistance from partners.
