The United States will cut off banks around the world from its financial system for violating sanctions against Russia.

According to the Financial Times, foreign financial institutions that support Russia's military-industrial complex will be blacklisted.

U.S. President Joe Biden will issue a corresponding order on December 22, amending two orders that allow America to impose secondary sanctions. Janet Yellen, head of the US Treasury Department, emphasized that the new tools will be used to take decisive action against financial institutions that facilitate the supply of Russian military equipment.

Payments for a variety of goods, including semiconductors, machine tools, chemical precursors, ballistic missiles, and optical systems, will be prohibited.
