Apple is considering establishing its manufacturing facilities in Indonesia

After meeting with President Joko Widodo, Apple CEO Tim Cook said this said, Reuters reports.

"We talked about the president's desire to see manufacturing in the country, and that's something we'll be looking at", Cook said.

At the time, Widodo expressed hope that through partnerships with local companies, the tech giant would increase its presence in Indonesia.

According to the country's Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Apple will be able to produce products for export if it decides to set up businesses in his country.

"We will discuss how the Apple factory in Indonesia can become a global supply chain", he added.

Reuters notes that the company does not have its own production facilities in Indonesia, but since 2018, it has been creating academies for application developers. Their total cost, together with the new one, the fourth academy that Tim Cook will open in Bali, is $99 million.
