Revolut survey reveals majority of Romanians satisfied with managing personal finances despite tough year

A survey by Revolut reveals that most Romanians are satisfied with their financial decisions in 2023, with a focus on learning how to save effectively and maintaining a stable financial state.   Although 11% believe their financial situation has deteriorated, 6 out of 10 Romanians rate the way they spent in 2023 as "satisfactory".

Financial education has become a priority, with 31% of respondents believing that the biggest financial achievement of the year was learning how to save effectively. Generation Z stand out as champions at saving, with 41%, and 21% were also among the most active investors,  Agerpres reports.

However, 2 in 10 Romanians regret spending in 2023, with a higher percentage among women (38% vs. 27%) and those in the 45-54 age group (6% vs. 4% national average).

The study also highlights changes in spending behavior, with 81 payments to merchants per physical card user in the first 11 months of the year. Revolut users generated more than 2 million virtual disposable cards for various purchases.

Although many are satisfied, 2 in 10 Romanians want improvements in 2024, including new sources of income (17%), greater investment (13%) and improved personal money management skills (11%). The 55-64 age segment is most dissatisfied with the inability to find additional sources of income (22%).

Gabriela Simion, general manager of Revolut Bank UAB in Romania, says that 2024 brings new opportunities to improve financial management and achieve financial goals, given the added functionalities in 2023.
