Average net earnings reached 4,692 Lei in October
According to the National Institute of Statistics, average net earnings in October reached 4,692 lei, reflecting an increase of 2.2% compared to September 2023. The main aspects include a similar increase in gross earnings, significant differences between sectors, with the IT sector dominating at the top of earnings, INS data shows. Wage earnings saw a significant annual increase of 17.1%, with notable increases in some sectors and decreases in the oil industry. The real earnings index shows a positive development compared to previous years.

Average gross earnings: Reached 7,509 lei, up 2.2% from the previous month.
- Highest earnings: In information technology service activities, including computer service activities, earnings reached 11,127 lei.
- Lowest earnings: In hotels and restaurants, average net earnings were 2,591 lei.
- Significant annual growth: Compared to October 2022, average net earnings increased by 17.1%.
Sectoral increases and decreases:
- Significant increases: in manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products (+10.3%), other manufacturing, manufacture and supply of electricity, gas, hot water and air conditioning, manufacture of wearing apparel (between 6% and 7.5%).
- Notable decreases: in the extraction of crude oil and natural gas, manufacture of coke oven products and products obtained from the processing of crude oil (decrease of 15.1%).
- Budgetary sector: Increases in average net earnings in education (+2.9%) and public administration (+1.9%), with a slight decrease in health and social work (-1.7%).
- Real Wage Earnings: The real earnings index was 108.4% in October 2023 compared to October 2022 and 101.6% compared to September 2023. Compared to October 1990, the index increased 3.7 percentage points.
