Inflation in Romania: Air transport and detergents top increases

Recently published data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS) reveals a significant increase in prices in various sectors in November, with a few notable surprises. Here are the highlights:
1. Marked increases:
Air Transportation: Fares increased by an impressive 29.56% over November 2022.
Detergents: Prices are up 23.58%.
Water, Sewerage and Sanitation Services: An increase of 20.45% was recorded in this category.
Chemicals: An increase of 16.89%.
2. More Expensive Food on the rise:
Beer: With a significant increase of 16.17%.
Fresh fish: An increase of 16.13%.
Canned and other fish products: 14.23% increase.
3. Cheaper food products:
Oil : A notable cheapening of 27.51%.
Flour: Down 21.97%.
Corn Meal: A decrease of 18.16%.
4. Differences in data:
INS data show a decline in the annual inflation rate to 6.72% from 8.07% in October.
In contrast, air fares rose 29.56%, illustrating the discrepancies between sectors and inflation.
5. Non-food goods:
Detergents, Chemicals, Toiletries and Cosmetics: all show significant increases.
Electricity and fuels: They have become cheaper by 11.54% and 2.71% respectively.
6. Services:
Air transport: Up 29.56% in the last year.
Water, sewerage and sanitation: Up 20.45%.
Postal services: Have seen an increase of 16.17%.
7. General inflation:
Annual rate decreased: From 8.07% in October to 6.72% in November.
