The US state of Tennessee was hit by tornadoes and powerful storms on Saturday, causing at least six deaths, destroying homes and causing massive power outages. Three of the deaths were in the northern suburbs of Nashville, while the upstate city of Clarksville was severely affected, with the loss of three lives and numerous people injured.

Nashville's Office of Emergency Management has released heartbreaking images of destroyed homes and uprooted trees. Local authorities, along with rescue crews, are still in the search and rescue phase, and residents are advised not to venture into the streets. The Mayor of Clarksville has declared a state of emergency and imposed traffic restrictions for the safety of the community, Digi24 reports.

More than 52,000 homes have reported power outages and emergency crews are working to restore power to the most affected areas. The situation remains under surveillance and emergency measures remain in place, including traffic restrictions in the affected areas.
