eFactura system becomes mandatory from 2024
Only 18% of Romanian companies have signed up so far
Less than a fifth (18%) of active firms in Romania have so far enrolled in the eFactura system, which becomes mandatory from 1 January 2024 for business-to-business deliveries. The single invoice system will replace all other types of invoices, either paper or electronic.
According to data provided by the Ministry of Finance to DigiEconomic.ro, only 130,000 of the approximately 700,000 active companies in Romania have registered for the eFactura system so far. This small percentage is also true if we refer to the companies that have submitted the Informative Declaration on supplies and purchases made on the national territory (D394) this year. In total, 490,000 firms have submitted this declaration, which means that only 26.5% have enrolled in the eFactura system.
It is important to note that eFactura becomes compulsory for all supplies of goods and services taking place in Romania between taxable persons established in the country (B2B) from 1 January 2024.
