Record compensation in 2022: More than 7 million lei paid out following a road accident
Road Safety Coalition launches Road Safety White Paper to improve safety on Romania's roads
Amid growing concerns about road safety in Romania, the Road Safety Coalition has taken a significant step towards improving the situation by launching the White Charter for Road Safety. This strategic document contains best practices, scenarios and targets for the coming years, with the aim of increasing the level of safety on the country's roads and reducing the number of road accident victims.
According to the information of the National Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies in Romania (UNSAR), in 2022, compensation paid out following road accidents reached record amounts, with the highest compensation exceeding 7.1 million lei. UNSAR member insurance companies paid a total of 36.5 million lei for the top 10 largest claims resulting from such accidents.
"Unfortunately, a road accident can have a major impact on a family," said Alexandru Ciuncan, President and CEO of UNSAR, "Moreover, the number of serious accidents remains at an alarming level. This is why traffic prevention must become a responsibility for all of us."
