Investment in new construction increased

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, net investment in the national economy reached 118.5 billion lei in the period January-October this year, reflecting an impressive 14.4% growth compared to the same period last year.

Diversification on the rise:

Investment growth was seen at all levels, with significant expansion across all structural elements. Other expenditure increased by 28.6%, new construction work by 14% and investment in machinery (including transport equipment) was up 11.5%.

Focus on new construction:

Investment in new construction prevailed, totalling 74.2 billion lei in the first ten months, highlighting significant interest in infrastructure development and construction projects.

The third quarter confirms the upward trend:

In Q3 2023, net investments reached 48.8 billion lei, registering a robust 16.6% growth compared to the same quarter of the previous year. This upward trend was supported by increased investment in all categories, with other spending up 35.9%, new construction up 19.2%, and investment in machinery up 7.4%.

Net investment and its definition:

According to the NSI, net investment comprises expenditure on the creation of new fixed assets, development, modernisation and reconstruction of existing fixed assets. It also includes the value of services related to the transfer of ownership of existing fixed assets and land taken over against payment.

These positive investment figures are an encouraging sign for the national economy, indicating a favourable climate for further economic growth and development.
