Unblocking traffic in Bucharest
Night-time supply proposal for commercial premises
The deputy mayor of Bucharest, Stelian Bujduveanu, presented a draft resolution that could bring significant changes to traffic in Bucharest. According to the proposal, from next spring, the supply of commercial spaces in the city would be carried out only between 22:00 and 06:00.
The main purpose of this measure is to ease traffic flow during rush hours, a persistent problem in a densely populated and crowded city like Bucharest. The deputy mayor stressed that this initiative is inspired by the examples of other liberal cities in the country, such as Oradea, Cluj-Napoca or Arad, which have successfully implemented similar regulations in the past, reports Agerpres.
According to the proposal, the supply of goods to commercial premises would be allowed only within the specified timeframe, and failure to comply with this schedule would lead to sanctions, with fines ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 lei. Local authorities responsible for the detection and enforcement of sanctions include the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest - Road Brigade, the General Directorate of Local Police and Control of the Municipality of Bucharest, as well as the General Directorates of Local Police of sectors 1-6.
Deputy Mayor Bujduveanu stressed the importance of consultation with local entrepreneurs in the decision-making process to ensure an efficient and fair implementation of the proposed measures. At the same time, he added that the seasonal terraces in the historic center will not be affected by these new rules, maintaining their current supply schedule.
The draft is currently under public debate on the City Hall website, and citizens are encouraged to express their comments and suggestions. However, this proposal evolves, the proposed changes appear to be part of a wider effort to improve the quality of life of Bucharest's citizens and reduce the negative impact of heavy traffic on the environment and public health.
