National Bank of Romania launches new currency

New coin with a nominal value of ten lei
The coin has a face value of ten lei and is an anniversary currency

The National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, starting Thursday, a 10 lei silver coin, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the National Military Museum "King Ferdinand I". The maximum mintage for this anniversary coin is 5,000 pieces and the selling price is 490 lei, excluding VAT, according to the BNR announcement, according to Euronews.

The obverse of the coin shows the central image of the building of the National Military Museum "King Ferdinand I" in Bucharest, inscribed with "ROMANIA" in an arc, the Romanian coat of arms, the denomination "10 LEI" and the year of issue "2023".

The reverse of the coin shows the first building of the National Military Museum (Palace of Arts in Bucharest), the portrait of King Ferdinand I and the inscriptions "MUZEUL MILITAR NATIONAL", "REGELE FERDINAND I" and "100 ANI".

The silver coins will be protected in transparent methacrylate capsules and will be accompanied by explanatory brochures and certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French. These certificates will contain the signatures of the Governor of the NBR and the Central Cashier.

With a maximum mintage of 5,000 pieces, the selling price for the silver coin is 490.00 lei, excluding VAT, including the informative brochure and the certificate of authenticity. The coins will be circulating in Romania and will be introduced into the numismatic circuit through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj, Constanța, Dolj, Iași and Timiș.
