Voluntary pension funds up 32% in October

Romania's voluntary pension funds experienced significant growth in October, with a remarkable increase of 32%.

At the end of October, voluntary pension funds had assets worth 4.42 billion lei, a significant increase of 32% compared to the same period last year, according to a report by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).

According to the report, most investments were made locally (96%) and most of them were denominated in lei (90%). The value of contributions paid in October was 52.9 million lei, with an average contribution of 158 lei, reports Agerpres.

At the end of October, government securities accounted for the largest share of assets, with 2.914 billion lei, or 65.9%. In second place were equities with 1.101 billion lei (24.9%), followed by corporate bonds with 161.128 million lei (3.6%) and deposits with 117.795 million lei (2.7%).

The number of participants in voluntary pension funds reached 695,554 in October 2023. Among the active funds on Pillar III are Aegon Esential, Azt Moderato, Azt Vivace, BCR Plus, BRD Medio, Generali Stabil, NN Activ, NN Optim, Pensia Mea and Raiffeisen Acumulare.
