Fewer foreign-owned firms set up in Romania in the first ten months of the year
In the first ten months of this year, the number of newly established companies with foreign capital in Romania fell by 5.3% to 5,850 units, according to data provided by the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC).
The 5,850 newly established companies had a total subscribed share capital of $120.927 million. This represents a significant increase, almost 3.5 times, compared to the subscribed capital of companies registered in the same period of 2022, which was $35.06 million, Agerpres reports.
In October 2023, there were 608 new companies with foreign equity ownership registered. Of these, most registrations were in the fields of wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (30.92%), followed by professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (21.38% of the total) and transport, storage and communication (13.16%).
At the end of October 2023, there were 250,066 companies in Romania with foreign participation in the share capital, with a value of subscribed capital of almost $69.11 billion.
Regarding the origin of capital, Italy recorded the highest number of companies with foreign participation, i.e. 52,601 (with a subscribed capital of $3.42 billion). However, the largest share capital was held by Dutch companies, with $12.847 billion in 6,055 firms.
