From Cossack seagulls to ocean yachts: a self-taught craftsman from Lviv
Lviv resident Myron Humenetskyi has successfully completed the construction of his new ocean-going yacht. This 14-metre vessel is designed to accommodate 12 people. The self-taught craftsman spent eight years creating this amazing yacht, which is called Starwind. The presentation of the vessel took place in the village of Novosilka near Lviv, on the eve of its journey to Kyiv.
Myron Humenetskyi, who has previously been involved in the construction of Cossack seagulls and an ocean-going rowing boat, spoke about the challenges he faced in creating this large yacht. "His initial idea of sailing around the world turned out to be irrelevant due to certain circumstances, so Starwind may become a commercial project," the master said in an interview with ZAXID.NET.
The vessel is equipped with two cabins for the crew, a captain's cabin, a wardroom and a galley. Starwind is distinguished by its speed, sportiness and comfort. Humenetskyi stressed that this project is the largest and most complex for him, although he already has experience in building similar vessels.
In terms of costs, the total amount for the construction of Starwind is approximately 150-200 thousand euros, while the mast itself cost 40 thousand euros. The yacht has now been transported to Kyiv to complete the work and obtain the necessary documents.
Myron Humenetskyi defines himself as self-taught in the field of yacht building. He gained his first experience helping to build Cossack seagulls in the 90s. His learning and interest in this business remain inexhaustible. He is also currently working on a new project - creating a catamaran for Lake Sulphur with his partners.
