A Significant Step for the Health of Local People

County authorities in Arad inaugurated a new oncology hospital on Wednesday, representing a modern outpost in the fight against serious diseases. The historic building in the city center was modernized and modified with an investment of 16 million lei, of which 13 million lei came from the National Local Development Programme (PNDL) and the remaining three million lei was provided by Arad County Council.

The new hospital covers an area of about 3,500 square meters and offers 50 beds for continuous hospitalization and three beds for day hospitalization. It will operate as the oncology ward of the County Emergency Clinical Hospital (SCJU), according to Agerpres

The President of Arad County Council, Iustin Cionca, stressed the importance of investing in the health sector in order to offer the people of Arad the possibility to be treated closer to home, thus eliminating the need to seek medical services in other counties or abroad.

"This hospital is part of our ongoing efforts to modernize and bring the health system in Arad up to European standards. We want the people of Arad to have access to quality healthcare in their own community, thus contributing to the credibility of the local healthcare system," said Cionca.

Hospital representatives stressed the need to build the new treatment unit, given that the old building was retroceded. Arad county also has about 14,500 cancer patients, ranking among the counties with the highest rate of illness in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Cătălin Predoiu attended the inauguration, stressing the importance of how communities treat their suffering members. He congratulated the authorities for building a European-level hospital, giving the people of Arad the opportunity to receive treatment in their own country.

This is the third hospital built by Arad County Council in recent years, highlighting the local authorities' commitment to improving the medical infrastructure and providing quality services to the community.
