General Vlad Gheorghiță appointed Chief of Defence Staff
With extensive experience in the military, Gheorghiță has completed numerous forms of education and training
On Wednesday, President Klaus Iohannis signed the decree appointing Lieutenant General Vlad Gheorghiță of the Ministry of National Defence as Chief of the Defence Staff. On the same date, Gheorghiță was promoted to the rank of general - four stars. Lieutenant General Gheorghiță Vlad replaces General Daniel Petrescu.
Vlad Gheorghiță, 54, has been Deputy Chief of Defence Staff since August 2022. He previously served as commander of the 2nd Infantry Division "Getica" Buzău and was in command of the National Joint Training Centre "Getica" in Cincu, announce Euronews.
With extensive experience in the military, Gheorghiță has completed numerous forms of education and training, including the Inter-Army Faculty of the Academy of Higher Military Studies and a master's degree in Strategic Studies at the U.S. Army War College.
General Vlad Gheorghiță was born on 7 September 1969 in Bucharest, and is married with two children.
