Over 55 Foreigners Found in Illegal Situations in Romania Last Week
The General Inspectorate for Immigration has announced that over 55 foreigners have been detected in illegal situations in Romania in the last week. Between 20 and 26 November, immigration officers registered 2,222 applications for work permits. Of these applications, 1,855 were approved while 407 were rejected, reports Agerpres.
Foreign citizens were issued 2,241 temporary and long-term residence permits in accordance with the legislation on the regime of foreigners in Romania. In addition, 660 residence permits were issued to beneficiaries of temporary protection, in accordance with the provisions of Council Directive 2001/55/EC.
During the control actions, immigration officers detected 55 aliens in illegal situations, of which 14 were placed in accommodation centers for aliens taken into public custody. A total of 218 actions, checks and inspections were carried out, and 160 fines amounting to 199,400 lei were imposed for the irregularities detected.
