From 2020, Romanians invested 22 billion lei in government securities
Marcel Bolos, Minister of Finance, has announced that Romanians have invested 22 billion lei in government bonds from the beginning of 2020 until now. This is the result of 14 sales offers conducted through the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) since July 2020, reports Agerpres.
The Ministry of Finance is continuing the Fidelis government securities issues for the population and has launched a new sale offer from 27 November to 15 December. The new sale offer provides advantageous conditions for securities in lei and €.
Marcel Bolos notes that the safety of the capital invested and the fact that the government securities are fully guaranteed by the state have led Romanians to invest 22 billion lei. Blood donors also benefit from special conditions, thus stimulating solidarity.
Radu Hanga, president of the BVB, points out that recurrent issues of government securities have contributed significantly to the growth in the number of investors and the development of the capital market.
Adrian Tănase, director-general of the BVB, notes that this year alone the number of investors in the capital market has increased by more than 25%, from 133,000 to 168,000.
The allocation of government securities will take place on 15 December 2023, and the entry to trading is estimated for 21 December 2023. Interest income and capital gains from investments in Fidelis government securities are non-taxable.
