Rheinmetall will produce 100,000 ammunition for mortars for Ukraine: Еhe company received an order from the German government

Delivery is set to begin in the near future and will continue over the next two years

German conglomerate Rheinmetall has received an order from the Germangovernment to supply Ukraine with approximately 100,000 120-millimeter mortarmunitions. This is stated in the company's official announcement .

The order is part of a recent €400 million military aid package for theUkrainian Armed Forces.

The exact value of the contract is currently undisclosed but ismentioned to be in the lower-three-digit million-euro range.

"Delivery is due to begin shortly and extend over the next twoyears", — the message says.

The company added that, following its recent acquisition of Spanishmunitions manufacturer Expal, Rheinmetall has further strengthened itsexpertise in infantry fire support.

"Thanks to its enhanced range, heightened precision and optimumcombat effectiveness, Rheinmetall mortar ammunition can assure favourableoutcomes even during operations in difficult terrain and urban environments", — the conglomerate stated.

Additionally, it was noted that the latest directive from the Germangovernment underscores Rheinmetall's role as a leading supplier of indirectfire technology.

Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that theGerman defense conglomerate Rheinmetall and Ukroboronprom had formed a jointventure.

This joint venture will service and repair the equipment supplied toUkraine by partners. It will also involve the localization of production forleading Rheinmetall AG equipment models.
