The average benefit for public pensioners was 431 lei

In October 2023, the total number of recipients of social allowance for pensioners was 1,141,943 people, a slight decrease of 120 compared to the previous month, data centralized by the National House of Public Pensions (CNPP) shows. Of these, 1,037,255 were pensioners from the public system and 104,688 were pensioners from the former farmers' pension system, Agerpres reports. 

The average benefit for public pensioners was 431 lei, with peaks in Maramures, Bistrița-Năsăud and Cluj counties. For agricultural pensioners, the average social allowance was 301 lei, with higher values in Ilfov, Gorj and sector 5 of Bucharest.

Bucharest had the highest number of beneficiaries, followed by Suceava, Dolj, Iași and Prahova counties. Iași, Botoșani and Dolj counties also had the highest number of beneficiaries among retired farmers.

The CNPP points out that beneficiaries of the public pension system, with incomes below 1,125 lei, receive the monthly social allowance according to the provisions of Law no. 196/2009. The stability and variations recorded provide a comprehensive picture of the pensioners in the context of economic and demographic changes.
