Iohannis, held joint press statements with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, at State House, Dar es Salaam.

With a strong bilateral relationship of almost 60 years, President Iohannis underlined the objective of his visit to intensify the political-diplomatic dialogue and to open new perspectives of cooperation. In his statement, the President highlighted future priorities, underlining Romania's vision for revitalising relations with African states. The importance of the partnership with Tanzania in the context of Romania's strategic approaches on the African continent was underlined.

The signing of two memoranda of understanding marked a key moment of the visit, aimed at cooperation in crucial areas such as disaster risk management, humanitarian assistance, agriculture, forestry, IT and cyber security, shows a press release from the Administration of the President. 

President Iohannis also underlined Romania's support for business development, highlighting Romanian entrepreneurs active in Tanzania, especially in the tourism sector.

The dialogue also included discussions on the regional security situation, underlining the common concern for resolving crisis situations through dialogue and respect for international law.

On the conflict in Ukraine, Romania expressed its firm position and the President presented assessments on security in the region and the implications of the russian-Ukrainian war.

Issues related to the Middle East were addressed, stressing the need to protect civilians, facilitate humanitarian aid and respect international law.

Finally, President Iohannis thanked for the hospitable welcome and expressed confidence that relations between the two countries will continue to develop in a spirit of cooperation and mutual interest.
