Russians are converting S-400 missiles into ballistic missiles for strikes on Ukraine – expert
Aggressor tests S-400 ballistic missiles with strikes on Kyiv
The Russian aggressor attacked Kyiv on 11 November, probably withmissiles from the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system converted toballistic missiles to test their effectiveness.
This was reported by military observer Oleksiy Hetman on the Ми-Україна TVchannel.
According to the expert, the aggressor is modifying the S-400anti-aircraft missile system to launch ballistic missiles capable of flyingover 400 km. He assumed that the aggressor fired such a missile at Kyiv on 11September.
"They fired one missile at the capital, and they knew perfectly wellthat it would be shot down, because in June they shot down as many as sixX-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles near Kyiv. Therefore, I assume that itwas not an Iskander that was fired at the capital, but rather an S-400ballistic missile modified to be a ballistic missile to test its effect,"the analyst said.
Oleksiy Hetman is convinced that along with missiles, the Russians planto attack Ukraine with a large number of drones. In his opinion, the Air Forceneeds more means to shoot down UAVs, including MSI-DSTerrahawk Paladin systems and Gepard self-propelled artillerysystems.
"We have something to work with against missiles, we don't need anysuch leap forward here - just add 20-30% more SAMs to shoot down more. And toshoot down such a large number of Shahed, we need 2-3 times more specialsystems. We hope that the G7 foreign ministers at their meeting in Tokyo on 7November will agree to further develop Ukraine's air defence. We expect thesecountries to help us with new types of weapons, as Ukrainian combat units arealready well trained," the expert concluded.
On 11 November, at around 8.00 a.m., several explosions were heard inKyiv. After that, an air raid alert was declared in the city. Later, the mayorof the capital, Vitali Klitschko, reported that the air defence system was operating on ballistic missiles.
The Air Force said that the Russians had hit Kyiv witheither an Iskander-M ballistic missile or an S-400 anti-aircraft guidedmissile.
Around 11.00 a.m., explosionswere heard in the capital again without an air raid alert, but no officialinformation was provided on their nature.
