A remarkable evolution in the first 10 months
In the first ten months of the year, new car registrations in Romania grew significantly by 15.2%, with "electrified" cars leading the way with an impressive jump of 31.8%, reaching a market share of 23.8%.
Dacia leads registrations, but electrics find their way
In the national market, Dacia remains in the lead with 39,244 units registered, and green cars are making their presence felt, reports Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers. The notable performance of electric cars is underlined by the significant increase in sales in this segment, up 31.8%.
Fuel transformation: electric cars moving forward, gasoline and diesel falling back
Despite declines in gasoline (-1.9%) and diesel (-1.2%) engines, green cars have conquered the market, overtaking diesel engines by an impressive 10.9%. Full electric cars reached a market share of 10.7%, marking a significant increase over the previous year.
Significant variations in the performance of green car categories
100% electric and plug-in hybrid cars were the stars of the growth, with notable gains of 51.3% and 45.7% respectively. In this context, Dacia Spring dominates the 100% electric cars top, with 5,796 units registered.
Stunning performance: light commercial cars record 15.5% growth
Not only passenger cars, but also light commercial vehicles are contributing to this remarkable performance, recording a 15.5% increase in the first ten months of 2023 compared to the same period last year.
These data underline a significant shift in Romanian consumer preferences, highlighting the accelerated adoption of electric and green vehicles, which marks a promising direction in the transformation of the Romanian car market.
