Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces reintroduction of border control in the Kingdom of Sweden until 11 May 2024 and offers creative tips for safe travel

In a surprising move, Swedish authorities have decided to reintroduce border control, significantly affecting the travel process for Romanian citizens. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) comes to the support of citizens and offers recommendations and resources to make this journey as easy and safe as possible.

According to the official announcement, border control will be in place until 11 May 2024. Romanian citizens are advised to be prepared with a valid identity document, be it a passport or ID card. This measure is introduced for security reasons and is essential to avoid inconvenience during travel.

For assistance and support, Romanian citizens can contact the Romanian Embassy in Stockholm at +468205674. Calls will be redirected to the Contact and Support Centre for Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS), where operators will be available on a permanent basis.

For further information and travel advice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends consulting the websites: stockholm.mae.ro, consular-protection.ec.europa.eu, www.mae.ro, and using the "Travel Safely" app, which provides useful guides for travelling abroad.

In case of emergency or special difficulties, Romanian citizens can also call the hotline number of the Romanian diplomatic mission in the Kingdom of Sweden: +46736985463.
