By September 2023, the demographic maps have redrawn, revealing a complex story of population movements. Fresh data shows a decline in both births and marriages, while divorces are on the rise. The month witnessed a changing demographic picture, giving us a glimpse into the dynamics of society

According to the National Institute of Statistics, in terms of births, September 2023 brought a significant drop of 2115 babies from the previous month. The number of deaths, in contrast, fell by 1384, including 67 children under 1 year old.

The natural rate remained negative in September 2023, indicating that deaths outnumbered live births by 1.3 times. Analysis over the last two years reveals an oscillating trend, marked by a significant increase in deaths in October 2021, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A look at the distribution of deaths by age shows that the majority of deaths (40.7%) occurred among people aged 80 years and over, with the fewest in the 0-4 age group.

In terms of causes of death, diseases of the circulatory system, tumors and diseases of the respiratory system remain the leading causes in September 2023.

In the area of marriages and divorces, September brought a decrease of 2526 marriages compared to August, and the number of divorces increased by 203.

Comparing statistics for September 2023 with the same month in 2022, births saw a decrease of 1436, while deaths were down to 1616. Divorces saw an increase of 105 over the same period.

Residency data shows a decrease in urban and rural deaths, with urban seeing a decrease of 572 and rural a decrease of 1044 compared to September 2022.
